update

well a few things have taken place since my last post. the yankees lost their way to the world series this year, and by default my next favorite team became the giants. i watched almost all the games of the world series, and have to say that im very disappointed. for starters the rangers where a beast against the yankees, only to lay down and do next to nothing against the giants. cliff lee who was the talk of the town (besides lincecum) faded into almost nothing status in the series. it was sad cause as bad as i wanted to see the rangers lose for what they did to the yankees, i wanted to see cliff lee pitch like he had against the yankees series. i was hoping to see a 7 game series come down to extra innings. oh well oh well. the one great thing about the series was the giants bull pen. i only knew lincecum, and was blown away more by cain & bumgarner than lincecum. there is always next year for the yanks to redeem themselves (and add cliff lee to their bull pen). as far as other things that have happened, i had a b-day, and like all the others before, just a reminder to me of another year down with nothing to show for it. although i do prefer a year like this last one more so than the one from 2008. that's when i had surgery and my boys where diagnosed as special needs as well as some other fun things i chose to not be reminded of. the suns my b-ball team are showing they may be @ 500 this season. now keep in mind i will be glad if they make 500, and the sad thing is that they where in the conference finals last year. the cardinals are right there just under 500 this season. the reason for the sports talk is that it's broughten the most happiness to me lately. sad but true. friends and fam are excluded from this list cause u guys should already know where u rank on my list (towards the bottom for some). had a house warming party which was awesome. had my bros & there fams as well as my parents and my grandma all over. bbq some burgers & doggs and enjoyed college football while the kids ransacked the house destroying everything in their path. it was great. well i got nothing else now. as u can see nothing of excitement has been going on with me. and for me that's a good thing. seems when things get exciting it's usually not a good thing. i know the election just took place and of course i voted so i can complain about how things continue to be the same, for which i am confident they will continue to be (just being a realist). sorry for the boring post. hopefully i will have more exciting tings next time. adios

the weight is over

to all my 7 readers, i am back (at least for the time being)! i know you've been waiting on bended knee to hear the latest nonsense from me, and i'm sorry to say that this post probably won't be worth the wait, or should i say weight. saying that "life has been a little crazy lately" is nothing short of the understatement of the year for me. the past 2 months have provided more excitement (not in a good way) than i have had in all my life. the unfortunate thing for you the reader is that my wife has already blogged at ad nausea about it so much that i will spare you the details. if your interested in the details go read her blog (nothing brings her more happiness that to look at the bottom of her blog at the "executive desk" to see how many have looked at her blog). the sad thing is that that even with her being with me or the kids, she would still rather be looking at that, and her blog than us. onto what i was going to post about today. the subject of my post today is about a milestone that took place in my life (to show you how sad my life is) about a week ago. i accomplished something that i had failed to do on many occasions prior. i went for a whole year without a soda (2 sips that took place in an emergency situations only). i have substituted soda in my life with more water and juices. the sad thing is that with such an accomplishment, my body figure is probably in the worst shape. i would have thought that giving up something that is so loaded with sugar (very delicious sugar) and has no real health benefit i would have at least dropped a few pounds or lost some of my gut, but to my dismay this hasn't happened. i am now trying to figure out what other alterations are needed in order to lose some of this gut. if any of my 7 readers have ideas beside the usual eat healthier and exercise (although i'm pretty sure that would for do it), please let me know (i'm all ears or should i say eyes as i will more than likely be reading them. it feels good to be back guys.

p.s. action movies

after finally going to sleep last night and, making it through today i realized that there was a couple of things that i forgot to mention while blogging last night in a sleep like state. first thing is why, why, why don't the action stars ever pick up a gun after shooting or killing a bad guy? why? it seems like a no brain er to me to go and grab the gun after killing a bad guy. just common sense. the other thing is why do the bad guys almost always have bigger and better weapons than the good guys. i don't know if it's a way to level the playing field by giving the villains the better looking and bigger weapons. you know the villain is going to lose anyway why give them the better weapons. i always like in predator how all the guys in the troop had incredible looking weapons, and it wasn't as if one of the guys had a sweeter weapon than the next. give both beside great weapons so when they shooting or battling each other it looks really cool. anyway this is just a little post script while the night is a lot younger than last night, and my mind is working at the turtles pace (instead of a snails like pace last night).

action movies

i know that the 7 readers of this blog are as excited as me(maybe even more)for the upcoming action mega flick "the expendables". it's no secret that i love action flicks more than just about any other film genre, and with this film coming out i knew what i needed to blog about.... action films. the past couple weeks action films have consumed my free time (what little i have) re watching these action movies i've seen quite a few times in me life. for me good action movies have no expiration date. so i love to watch them over and over. now with that set up, you know how i feel about action films, now its time for me to let the 7 readers of this brilliant (if i should say so myself) blog to unleash my gripes that i have just about most action movies. the first thing is why does the action star whether it's chuck norris (the master), steven seagal (next in command), arnold schwarzenegger (the fallen star), sylvester stallone (yes rocky was a mistake), jean claude van damme (jcvd), or any other action star throw there gun, and fight the villain with their hands or feet? my thought has always been just shoot them, and get it over with. a little fighting is cool no doubt, but they always over draw the fight scene, and all they have to do is just shoot them. i enjoy the shootouts more anyways. the only movie i can think of off the top of my head is open range where kevin costner (not an action star) shoots the guy in head right after he announces that he was the guy who killed his friend. i wish there were more 1 liners in these films. there is always a few, but i want (no demand) more. who wouldn't want to hear lines like this "Senator Vernon Trent: You can take that to the bank! Mason Storm: I'm gonna take you to the bank, Senator Trent. To the blood bank!"? classic! there needs to be more violence and less adult oriented relations. these are actions movies not chick flicks. leave the lovey dovey to j lo movies, and have these guys (and gals) kick more "watch your mouth". my final complaint that i have with action flicks is why not have these stars keep there shirts on???? without fail there is at least one scene if not more where the star has to take the shirt off for no reason. i know there are ladies out there that love these types of movies (i believe it's the same amount readers as this blog), but it never has anything to do with the movie. an example of this is the great action film predator where as the action stars get deeper into the jungle the more the guys take off the shirts for no reason. anyway it's after 1am and i need sleep (not like action stars) so i'm ending this post, but if the 7 readers of this action packed blog would like to share any thoughts about action movies please do. "i'm all ears" see if you can guess which action that quote came from, its another classic. please no mel gibson's quotes (if you where thinking it) as funny as they are, this is a kid friendly blog. good night.

7

i love sports, which is nothing new for the 7 readers of this blog. whether it's the nba, nfl, mlb, tennis, fifa, nhl, etc the greatest triumph for any of teams or players involved is for them to win the championship in their area or sport. after the victory of winning the championship there comes the continuous roaring cheers from the crowd, and the downpour from the champagne being sprayed everywhere, These are rituals that are part of the thrill of the victory. with that introduction, i know your either checking another blog by now or sitting on the edge of your seat wondering what's the anchor gonna say next after that. we'll i am married to a wonder women who's feelings of great accomplishment & having won a championship comes from winning awards for her blog. as you know by now if your reading this blog, there is no awards coming this way to the blog anytime soon. i like to think of my blog as the troma to my wife and her fellow blogger's blogs as hollywood. that's just for comparisons only, and for a little disclaimer, from my thoughts only. not really is my blog anywhere near as cool as troma. i had to throw that out there for legal compliance. my wife won a blog award for something or another, and as part of her award she had to list 7 things about her. so with that thought in mind, i thought how cool would it be to open up this great exterior of an anchor, and share with my 7 followers 7 things about me that they may not (or may) know. i love steven seagal movies, just kidding. i really do love seagal's movies almost as much as one of my fellow followers stephanie (but not quite as much), but with all my posts on the subject you should already know that.

1. the first thing about me is that i am truly convinced that in a past life i was a musician of some sorts. unfortunately it's not this life.

2. i have zero talents (seriously)

3. i am a 80's fanatic. i love the shows/music/movies/pop culture/literature/and sports of the 80's.

4. even though it's not quite the 80's, i am an unabashed fan of saved by the bell. going back to when it was good morning miss bliss, to the college years, and the wedding in vegas. i didn't like new class though, but even watched it most the time just because. i even read dustin diamond's book "behind the bell". which if you read my post about it know it's not worth your time.

5. i am an eagle scout. that was my first real accomplishment in my life to that time (and it came in just under my 18th b-day). see told ya i have no talent

6. something current about me is that i really love listening to those mel gibson's taped phone calls. as bad as the content is on them, they are hours of endless laughs (for those like me and mel who are going to he double hockey sticks).

7. this one i am turning over to my wife as a guest columnist (since she's the one with blog awards) to finish out this post, here you go
Jodie lacks confidence in himself. He has so many abilities and a great sense of humor. He's also a great husband - he does most of the cleaning and laundry, and cooks dinner every weeknight. I think he should give himself more credit, and if he feels he has no talents, then he should do something about it!

so there you go. 7 things for my 7 readers that you may or may not have known about me. now amy is $100.00 richer after writing that glowing review of me. so as they say at the end of each episode of cribs, time for you to get out. till next time people.

world cup 2014

every four years the whole world comes together to watch, and fight about fifa world cup soccer. now that all the hype, excitement, and my wallet being $4.00 lighter is now over for the 2010 world cup its time to reflect on what changes can be made to help improve this tournment for 2014. as i pondered this question over the past month or so i have come to the conclusion that they have to level the playing field (no pun intended) for all teams involved. i wondered how this could be done in such a manner that all the teams (in the world) would feel as if their team has the same fighting chance as all the others. there can only be one way to level that playing that field for all. this idea i know my not be perfect, but i feel all leaders (and dictators) from kim jung il, fidel castro, chancellor merkel, and the rest would be on board once it's presented to them. what i propose is this for the 2014 fifa world cup tournment: we will have all the teams of the world come together to create one uber soccer / futbol team, and they will compete against non other than chuck norris. i know that the $$$$ will down cause after one game with chuck there will be no one else left standing. so ad revenue as well as ticket sales for multiple games will be more of a thing of the past. a plus is that their would be no vuvuzela's, cause chuck will only allow the sounds of grunts and groans as he destroys all those on the field with him (refs are included which isn't such a bad thing). we all know that four years isn't time for the world to put together a team that could withstand the awesome force of chuck, but we got to start somewhere. with all that being said about 2014, i leave you with a piece of advice i wish someone would have told me prior to this year's world cup "don't ever bet on portugal or uruguay". i could have saved some $$$ ($4.00 to be exact) this year. congrats to those who bet on spain, you bet wisely (this time around), but for 2014 i'm putting all my $$$ on chuck (if the world thinks there ready for the slaughter).

p.s. notice this has nothing to do with the prior post:
our thoughts and prayers are with rich dad (one of the six/seven readers of this great blog) as you get better and recover. we love you.

busy

happy 4th of july to all 7 readers of this blog. yes we have grown to 7 readers (or so i've been told by a select few). so welcome aboard all 7 readers. hope we are all enjoying the birthday of our country. it's been sometime since i last posted (over a month to be exact), and life for me has been very busy. starting towards the end of may, and going into the june there where visits from three good old friends. to find out more about those visits you can read my wife's blog. with those visits, and some traveling to family's homes for other events life has been very busy for me. so for today i will keep it short and sweet. i am trying to get back into the swing of things. last night i was supposed to go and see the dbacks play against the dodgers. after eating some grub with a friend, i boarded the light rail to head towards chase field to see the game. things went all wrong shortly after leaving the restaurant. right before i got on to light rail, my wife called, and asked me to talk to my son because threw his drink out the window just because he spilled a little bit of it. i spoke to him about it, but had to cut him short cause my gut was telling me something was wrong. after i got onto the light rail i sat there feeling this sensation that i feel every few months or so, and that is............. throwing up. yes, right on the light rail i threw up all over myself. fortunately i was able to get off at the next stop, and got back on to a different light rail that was headed right back to where i had gotten on. as soon as i got off at that stop, and started to walk to my car i began to threw up a some more. i was able to get in my car and drive home with just a few minor stops along the way. needless to say it was one of the longest drives home. there isn't much more to say about last night without repeating what i previously told you so i will end it on that note. so i will try harder to keep my 7 readers in the loop with what this anchor is up to (whether you want to know it or not). hopefully by my next post we'll be up to 8 readers. enjoy your 4th of july, and please eat lots of good grub on my behalf, since i will be eating chicken noodle soup and saltine crackers today.

a sad event today

two posts in one day, you 5 readers are in for a treat with me today. i had an event happen today that i had to share with you. we all know that under this tough exterior, the anchor has a soft side. this afternoon i was talking with the misses about our boys (we have 2), and i told her that our boys wouldn't even care if i left cause they only want to be with her. so i put it to the test, and posed the question to the mini anchors "would you care if daddy was gone"? the older son broke out in tears, and said that he doesn't want me to join the army, and be gone for a year. he got physically upset at the question, but then when i tried talking to him he just smiled. here is what happened when i posed the question to the younger anchor. his response was that it was okay with him cause he doesn't like me. he said to me that i only like mommy, and he can go ahead and go. this type of talk went on from him for a little while, all the while saying how much he didn't like me and just would be happy if i left. so the misses let him know of her disapproval of this talk, but he still continued on with it till finally she bribed him. he comes over to me in our bedroom, and tells me that he loves me. when i start to ask him questions about why he said those things he says to me that he's done talking, and goes into the living room where the misses is sprawled out over on the couch. he walks over to her and tells her that he told me that he loved me. when i come into the living room and ask him what she bribed him with he says i can't tell you, and goes back into my room to play on the computer. anyway, i know this story maybe pretty boring to you, but for this anchor, it crushed my little heart. i knew my boy was a mama's boy, but i didn't know till today how much he really just doesn't like me. weep weep.

dinner anchor style

last night, the anchor decided it was time to treat the family to nice dinner. after picking up the misses, with the mini anchors, i proceeded to drive around with them trying to find an eating destination fit for a king (or in this case an anchor, and his fam). we stopped at several places, but they where all overfilled with people waiting to get in (must have been payday for them also). after driving around for what seemed like an eternity (more in the range of 15 minutes give or take), the anchor threw down, and said let's eat at arribas mexican grill. it's a nice mexican food place that none of us had ever been to. we went there, and got a table with no wait. i didn't even have to bribe the hostess to get us in past the wait list. we all sit down at a nice table, and get our orders taken. naturally the anchor being an enchilada man ordered up some enchiladas, the misses ordered up a taco plate (her favorite food), and the mini anchors shared a beans & rice plate. it was a nice evening minus the waitress who seems to walk past every couple minutes tending to all the other tables except ours, and the mini anchors having to go to the bathroom every 5-10 minutes. now here is the reason i wanted to share this story with all 5 readers. at the end of the evening when i was picking up the tab and getting the to go boxes for the leftovers, i scrapped every piece of food from the plates we had into the to go boxes. now the misses was embarrassed by this, and let me know that my white trash roots were on full display. i continued cleaning up all the plates, and even took the chips and salsa that the restaurant gives you while you wait for your food, and put it them in the to go boxes while having the misses covering up her face due to the embarrassment, and stares from the other patrons in the area who can afford to leave half eaten plates of food behind. due to the fact that i had just paid a $25 tab for this food, i wasn't about to just leave it behind to be thrown away. so we leave the restaurant with minimal problems, one of the mini anchors wanted to cause some problems in the bathroom, but i will leave that for another story. i wanted to ask the 5 readers of this blog whether or not they agree with me, and with scrapping all chunks of food in to go boxes is must when your paying a large tab ($25.00 is quite a bit for this poor bum), or was the misses in the right to be embarrassed by these actions? i would like some feedback from the 5 readers of the blog, and please let me know what you would do. i'm trying to gauge if i am being just sensible anchor or if i am just plain white trash. i appreciate any, and all feedback on this matter. thanks.

p.s. the food in the picture above looks much better than the food we ate. just an f.y.i.

obsession

my wife said to me today "are you still doing your blog?", and of course i know i couldn't leave my faithful fellow readers (all 5 of you) without a little anchor each month. i am at a loss for ideas, because my wife is very commit ed to her blog, and in doing so gets to takes all our family stories (the good, and the bad), and put them down on the internet for all to read. she has a much larger audience to entertain, so she wins that war (hands down), so that leaves me with just the left overs (which isn't much of anything) to blog about. with that in mind, i'm sure you know by now that i usually like to waste your time writing about whatever thoughts or opinions are going on in that little area full of grey matter (at least that what i believe it is there), and put them down on internet paper for you to read. so as i was thinking about the question posed to me by my wife today i started to think about what i could type that would make a difference in the lives of those who have the undertaking of spending their time reading my posts, and trying to rationalize why they just wasted whatever amount of time it just took to read it. with this in mind i came across something that has been on my mind lately "obsession". last week for a little treat i purchased a $5.00 movie for my older son as a reward for all the hard work he's been putting into his schooling, and behaving. the movie is "charlie and the chocolate factory", the updated remake piece of junk done a few years ago. i hold willy wonka and chocolate factory as one of my all time favorites, but that is besides the point. back to the topic at hand, so i made this purchase, and gave it to him on wed (of this past week). since then he has watched the movie 4 (possibly 5) times. he loves the movie so much that tonight for some family time we played charades, and movie quotes and every time it was his turn all he would quote or act out was something from the movie (including things from the 2nd disc which are the special feature that no one watches). he even got upset with himself cause that was all he could think about doing when we where playing. this obsession isn't a first for him (or any of the anchor's other family members). my younger son can only discuss and play with transformers, and my wife barely functions without reviewing, and posting on her blog. as i out my family members for their current obsessions it's only fair that i out myself as well. my current obsession is.................................................. tune in next time to find out what is the anchor's current obsession, and is he currently getting professional help for it. just remember that in the movie willy wonka there was 5 golden tickets, and could so there was only 5 winners. i have 5 readers to my blog which means that each of you get a golden ticket in my book.

you guessed it!

stephanie is the winner, and has proven yet once again that her great taste in actors, and action movie stars are impeccable. thanks steph for also being the only one willing to take the task at hand, and treat it like steven does to the bad guys in all his movies. till next time.

personal fave

today i watched another film by one of my all time favorite actors. this actor has played so may character driven roles it so hard to pick any that aren't oscar worthy. he's portrayed so many different ethnicity's such as native american, italian, russian, chinese, japanese, european, and others over his vast career that it hard to know which is ethnicity he really is. his roles have allowed him to bring to life a barrage of characters such as a deadly assassin, undercover f.b.i. agent, grieving father & husband, a good cop, reality sheriff, father figure to an orphan, and ex military to name just a few of his starring roles. his skills in acting, and martial arts are too numerous to count, and even more potent than a cobra snake. he's so diverse with his acting that in a single movie you can witness his acting abilities with a little comedy, romance, action, drama, and even a little horror all in a single movie. when i watch this actor in action, there is no one even close (although i do love chuck, but even he can't hold much of a candle to him) to bringing the big screen to life for me. the reason your reading this post (cause i know its probably one of my most boring est to date) because of all the stupid movies, and remakes that hollywood continues to put out each year and the level of quality getting less and less, this guy still makes several films a year, and for the most part the quality doesn't get diminished from one film to the next. he's had to overcome so much in his personal life (i will my readers do the research of they want more on that), and is still standing today. i don't think i could be as lucky as he's been. i don't want to give the answer just yet on this tribute, so i will let those 5 readers ponder this post, and decide who it is (but i will disclose his identity in a couple days after the novelty (if there is one) wears off). i leave you with a parting quote from this actor that to me says it all.... "Yeah, I want some blow. Put your hands where I can see 'em or I'm gonna blow your head off.". i can't leave you with just a movie quote, so i'm also gonna share a personal quote from him....“I am hoping that I can be known as a great writer and actor some day, rather than a sex symbol.” now let's see if you can guess this oscar deserving actor is!

country bumpkin

i go through various stages when comes to music: when i'm ready to break a leg and dance the night away i listen to more upbeat music (ie: gangsta rap & 80's retro), and when i'm angry or upset i listen to more aggressive music (ie: metal & harder metal), and when i'm feeling at ease with the world i listen to more of the music i'm familiar with (ie: college radio & alternative), and when i am feeling down and depressed i listen to (the types of tracks i have on my blog currently). please enjoy them with me. these are just a small sampling of the great country singers (a dying breed that as far as i am concerned are all but extinct).

spring break

it's been a few days (weeks actually) since i last left the masses (all 5 readers of this blog) with some parting wisdom. my wife told me recently that i should blog more, but since i never really have anything exciting to write about, and when something exciting does happen she writes about on her blog leaving me back to square one. i dug down deep for something exciting and edifying to write about........ and i got nothing. since i'm back at square one with nothing new or exciting to write about, i'm going to use my go to writing crutch which is a........ nother list. now last week was spring break for my son, and i was able to have a week off for vacation to spend with him, and the rest of our gang (we call the johnson family). during this week off i was able to get quite a bit of stuff accomplished while being home. with that being said i'm going to list some of the highlights of my first week off in longtime. these are listed in no particular order:

1. watching several dvd's of some of my favorite shows (ie: the shield/flight of the concords/breaking bad/man v food/& arrested development).

2. watching quite a bit of the college b-ball game for march madness.

3. sleeping in past 3:40am (much needed).

4. naps!

5. going to the park with the gang.

6. meeting adam richman with the kids (the host of man v food) (got the pictures to prove it).

7. watching the sundevils baseball game with kids, pops, nephew, and big bro (also got to see an asu player hit a grand slam, it was so great since i missed a 2 run homer in the first inning since i was on potty patrol). was able to enjoy listening to crowd as they politely advised the umpire of his need to get some glasses or take his head out of a certain area on his body.

8. listened to quite abit of music

9. hair & beard cut (and boys did as well, minus the beard trim).

10. nephews 2nd b-day.

11. cleaning the house (as long as it took and as much as it was a drag to get started, but it looks so much better).

12. facebooking (i know i do it almost everyday, but this was my own real gateway to outside world during the week).

13. watched some steven seagal movies (seriously).

14. staying up past 9:30pm

15. NOT WORKING!!!!

that about sums up my first vacation that i have been able to enjoy in sometime. i felt refreshed, and ready to take on the world, and then this past monday came, and the world came crashing down around me. hope all my 5 followers have a nice spring break (assuming your getting one ha ha ha ha).

the anchor has some tips to save money

to my fav five, i got some tips to help you save that much earned green while this recession stays mean. these tips are in no particular order, and are only there as thought to help you.

disclaimer: please understand that the anchor is in no way affiliated with any of the products or companies listed or their affiliates, and the anchor is not certified in anything, so please proceed with caution.

now my tips for you are as follows:

1. go to library - right now we have been saving bookals of money on movie rentals, and going to

the movies cause most of the films that i want to see i check out from the library. books are always good if you interested in educating yourself (from my previous post you know that i haven't been, but i've recently turned over a new leaf). probably the most important reason is the cd's. i've been able to track down most of the albums that i like to listen to there and gotten them for free (well almost).

2.grow a beard (for the men) - since i've grown a beard i have saved lots of time on not shaving, and money by not having to purchase razors. although my wife has slowly taken my razor over, and i find myself now buying more razors than before. maybe that one isn't such a good one.

3. don't buy a computer when your car breaks down - easier said than done i know. we took our meager tax return, and purchased a p.c. (much needed), then on our way home after purchasing the p.c. amy's car breaks down. sad i know, but luckily for us (me) we have rich in laws where money isn't an object (jk). we have blessed to have family around us who don't mind pulling their resources together to help us get our vehicle fixed (which cost almost as much as its worth). i guess that tip would be more of being surround by people who have resources to help and don't mind using them on you when needed.

4. parks - free public ones that is, when the kids get over anxious and need to shed some of that kinetic energy (they seem to have endless bounds of), we go there. they can play, and then try to kill each other, and then go home. good times.

5. the fifth & final tip for my five readers is to not have any friends. i say this cause since moving to arizona some years ago, i have no real close friends (nearby), so i don't get invited to do things that almost always cost money$$$$. i have some friends at work (work friends - (def) someone you work with, and are friends at work, and when the work bell rings for the day, you don't see them till the next business day) and they tell me about going out on town most weekend (even most nights) and spending money like its goin out of style.

anyway i hope i may have helped shed some light on your pocket book to try to keep some of that much earned and deserved dinero in it. on a closing remark, remember i am in no way an expert in any field nor do i have any specialized training in anything, so please use this advice with extreme caution, cause the anchor is not responsible for anyone (including but not limited to immediate family, friends, co workers, himself, etc).

new tunes to enjoy.

just posted some new tunes that currently won't leave my ears alone. hope you enjoy them like i do.

my take on v-day - by the anchor of love

i have decided i too would weigh in on the whole valentine days, and whether or not it's a waste. my thought is this.... do we really need a day to celebrate love? i ask this as i share with you the latest stats that i heard recently about love. 1 in every 2 marriages end in divorce, and as of 2009, the stats show that teen pregnancy has hit it's highest point in history and is on the rise. a holiday to celebrate more of this, i think not. in full disclosure i do have a brother who happens to have been born on valentines a couple years ago, and i am sure that he feels different from me. with that being said, i really think we should either do away with valentines day holiday, or make it a federal holiday where we get to have a day off of from work, or receive a floating holiday if it falls on a weekend. i know the service industry/hallmark/& flower industry are probably with my brother and are against me on this, and think im crazy to have said such a thing, but they also have a stake in this holiday, being one of the their biggest moneymaking days of the year. i on the other hand have no stake in this holiday at all. i think there should be a petition sent to d.c. letting congress know that we, the people of this country want to make v-day a federal holiday. now lets rise up in the streets and make this happen (all 5 of us). i shall end on this note and its a quote about love that i feel sums it all up: "love hurts, love scars, love wounds, and marks, any heart not tough or strong enough to take a lot of pain, love is like a cloud, holds a lot of rain". have a happy valentines day all you lovers out there. and remember the hoff love's you, and you, and you, and you!

finally

for the 5 that have been waiting on mouse and keyboard to hear what stupid thing this anchor will post next, well the wait is up. i'm hear to add on to a previous post i wrote about reading. well i'm here to say that i have read 2 whole books so far this year. this may sounds like a minor accomplishment (and you wouldn't be far off base), but for me with my reading on the decline over the years instead of increasing as it was a few short years ago, this is quite the accomplishment. so encase you where wondering what book's caught my eye, they are: "i drink for a reason" by david cross & "behind the bell" by dustin diamond. they are both pretty crass books, so i don't recommend them to the faint of heart. i enjoyed david's book especially for his humor (which happens to be somewhat in my way of thinking about humor), but was very disappointed with dustin's book. being the sbtb fan that i am i was looking for some real insight into the behind the scenes of the show as well as some insight into screech. instead it was nothing more than a hatchet job for everyone who worked with him. there was very little insight behind the show. the worst part was i felt all it was dustin trying to make himself out to be more of a man than i imagine he really is (sorta speak). as i close i would like to ask (plead with 5 readers of this blog) to please send me some book recommendations. i'm in the process of trying to find the next book to read. adios.

freudian slip or not?

you are not going to believe this (or maybe you will), but today my wife let it slip her real feelings about me. here is how it went down(over the phone):

me: hey sweetie i know you can do better than me, and i know you know that.

wife: yeah

yes she did say that. even though she tried afterwards to say that she didn't mean it (trying to fix what minuscule ego that was dangling on for dear life). so i ask the 5 readers of this blog: can my wife do better? i ask for honesty, cause i already know (and live with) the answer everyday. good day or do i mean good night?

new years resolutions

another year down, and i find myself at the end of this year with having read fewer and fewer books than last. i love to read books, but since my surgery i have found that it take ever more out of me when i sit down and read. with each year since my surgery, my book list seems to get smaller and smaller, so i am trying to break this vicious cycle of illiteracy, and am making it a resolution to read more books this year. now with this in mind i am asking for faithful 5 that do read this blog if they would please give me some suggestions on some books that i would enjoy reading. a few facts about the anchor's reading habits are:

1. i read mainly (99.99%) read non fiction.

2. i love books that aren't more than a few hundred pages (300 is around my max, but if good enough i have read up to a 700 page book once, and it nearly finished this anchor off).

3. i am a product of the public school system so when in read, i like to have it as simple as possible (sad but true). picture books are good.

now as i close i ask that you include any and all book suggestions as this is going to be a years worth of reading (hopefully). no list is too long for this anchor. if you would like to know what i have read (or attempted to) lately, just ask, and i will be glad to list them. good night and good year (not the tire or az city though).
